Did you know…Happy Father’s Day
Posted on September 2nd, 2010 by micosantos, under Features, Friends and Family, Me and Myself, news and events.
To celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday 5 September, Statistics New Zealand is releasing some facts of interest based on 2009 data.
On Father’s Day in 2009, about 140 men received a new baby as their present. The average age of fathers of new babies was 32 years in 2009, but one in 100 babies had a father aged 50 years or over. Today’s newborn babies have fathers who are, on average, four years older than their own fathers were when they were born. Fathers tend to be older than mothers, with an average age-gap of about two years. In the last decade almost three-quarters of babies born had fathers who were older than their mothers. Nearly 30 percent of babies born in New Zealand last year were to fathers who were not born in New Zealand themselves. One-quarter of the overseas-born fathers were born in Samoa, Tonga, or Fiji. Close to one in five were born in the United Kingdom. Eighty-three percent of men had face-to-face contact at least once with a family member not living with them, over a four-week period. About one-quarter of men felt they did not have enough contact with family members who do not live with them. Eighty-five percent of men were satisfied or very satisfied with their lives. New Zealand and Australia celebrate Father’s Day in September, whereas internationally a On the Other Hand, I would like to greet my Father Enero Santos, a happy Father Day. Thank you to all the support and advices that you given me.
number of northern hemisphere countries celebrate it in June.

“HEROES” creator Tim Kring and Nokia launch Conspiracy For Good
Posted on June 28th, 2010 by micosantos, under Arts and Music, Features, In and Out, Me and Myself, Show and Tell, news and events.
"Heroes" creator Tim Kring and Nokia today unveiled Conspiracy For Good (CFG, www.ConspiracyForGood.com), an inaugural movement that blends online and real-world tasks to effect social change through audience participation. CFG combines Kring's original storytelling (www.ConspiracyForGood.com/about) and Nokia's Ovi platform (www.ovi.com) to create a dramatic, fictional experience using interactive theatre, mobile and alternate reality gaming (ARG), music and physical participation to do good in the world.
Participants will become part of the plot development and will find the necessary tools and clues to move the narrative forward and into the real-world, ultimately creating social and educational change for the Chataika Basic School, located in the village of Chataika in eastern Zambia.
"I believe that storytelling has the power to create positive change in the world. Audiences today want to be more involved in stories," said Tim Kring, 2010 Digital Emmy Pioneer Award winner for transmedia storytelling. "Our goal with the Conspiracy For Good is to entice, engage, and inspire the audience to drive real-world change through their participation in a narrative."
The Backstory (Fictional Plot)
Over the decades, members of Conspiracy For Good have been reputed to be quietly and effectively doing good in the world's most troubled areas. But CFG is not without enemies, and it is now under fierce attack by Blackwell Briggs (www.blackwellbriggs.com), a London-based multinational company committed to advanced infrastructure development and security services. For help, CFG turned to Kring, a master storyteller, to share their story, recruit new members to read the signs, and bring down Blackwell Briggs.
Joining the Conspiracy For Good
Participants enter into the story, which fuses reality and fiction, through www.ConspiracyForGood.com, where they will join like-minded thinkers, artists, musicians and causes, creating a unified voice to fight for social and environmental justice. The audience can take action within their own comfort zone and level of engagement to meet new people with similar interests online and in person, and have some fun too. Participants who join CFG will be able to solve mysteries online, play casual mobile games or be a physical participant in the London events that will take place from mid-July through early August.
CFG brings to life many of the experiences that Ovi, Nokia's Internet service platform, offers to people that use its devices. CFG participation on Ovi occurs through a series of existing and upcoming apps including casual games like "Exclusion" (http://tiny.cc/4ujaw) and "Mainframe Liberator" (http://tiny.cc/r9qfx) that unlock codes to confidential websites, Ovi Maps (www.ConspiracyForGood.com/map) to guide characters through the story, and Ovi Music where hidden information within songs can be deciphered to advance the story.
In the UK, participants will be able to download a special edition app called Conspiracy For Good: DeadDrop powered by Nokia's Point & Find service. Available in the UK Ovi Store (http://store.ovi.com) in mid-July, the app will allow players to point at objects and images in the real-world to discover clues and participate in challenges during the series of upcoming events in London.
"Tim Kring has truly realized the potential for Nokia's Ovi platform as an additional distribution channel to once more advance storytelling through interconnected services and active audience participation," said Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president, Nokia. "Conspiracy For Good is Nokia's most powerful example to date for how content owners can blur the lines between the online and real-world to connect people to change."
How to Join ConspiracyForGood.com
Anyone is welcome to join the conspiracy from any country. For those who live in or plan to visit London later this summer, event participation is free, registration to www.ConspiracyForGood.com is required and no purchase is necessary.

Posted on December 8th, 2009 by admin, under Friends and Family, Me and Myself.

I was busy editing my Thorndon Fair video for my Video Blog TheSidestrip on Monday afternoon.
When my four years old daughter tap me on my left shoulder and she said:
"Daddy I'm Beautiful?"
I was surprised with her outfit – sunglass, necklace, bracelet and a fairy costume.
I was laughing and I said to myself this is what happen when my child got bored.
Oh! know!

Her top is from the online shop "Trelise Cooper" and she loved it.

Proud to be a Daddy
Posted on November 26th, 2009 by micosantos, under Friends and Family, Me and Myself.

Over the weekend, I'm very excited because my eldest son received a advance math skills Award from Kumon New Zealand for his achievement in Kumon programme.
The awarding was held at Student Union Building of the Victoria University in Kelburn with other Kumon Students from different Centres in Wellington region.
The event starts around 2:30 PM and finished about 3pm.
I never imagined that all the sacrifice I made with the help of my loving wife to give my kids a better education are making the way.
I almost cry when my son received his award and I said to myself I'm proud to be father.
I'm thankful to my parents specially to my grandfather and grandmother who though me the values of good parenting and why is Family are important.

T4WA: Thesidestrip
Posted on November 24th, 2009 by micosantos, under Blogging, Daily Expedition, Me and Myself.
I've been blogging since 2003 during the hey day dot com and the super slow Internet dial up connection that always disconnects.
During my college days, while studying Journalism I set up my first personal Website and I hand-coded my whole site and hosted by now defunct Geocities.
I even study some computer languages such as database 3+,Foxpro and Pascal to help me understand growing Internet Phenomenon.
Luckily, In 2003, the WordPress ,a open source blog publishing application was born and my life become easy.
While I enjoying writing for my Style of Life blog I launched my own video blog "thesidestrip" in 2008 in Wellington,New Zealand after I realize there are no video bloggers in the City and as my tools for my creative outlet and someday to do a documentaries or short films.
I started shooting videos using only my Canon Powershot A710 digital Camera and eventually some of my videos are featured in Cable News Network(CNN) I Report, Check my Press Room Page.
The aim of the blog is to encourage Video blogging to ordinary Kiwi and promote Wellington City to the World.
TODAY, a friend of mine told me that thesidestrip was one of the Wellingtonista nominees for Wellingtonian's contribution to the Internet.
It's an honor to me to be part of the T4WA. Thank you !!!
Please check Wellingtonista.com for other nominees.
Voting in the Fourth Annual Wellingtonista Awards is open from December 1-15. Then come find out the results at our Awards Night at Mighty Mighty on December 17! So, Please vote for me, Thanks

For a couple of weeks now, my wife and my kids are busy setting up their little garden in front of the house.
Last weekend, we went to The Warehouse in Lyall Bay and bought 4 sacks of Just mix potting and and another four of Just 40 L compost which cost us around $34.00 to finished the Garden.
Then, we went to California Garden in Miramar to check some assorted plants for the garden.
Since spring season is good for planting vegetables . My wife bought two eggplant, one chili, three tomato and a lettuce for the garden.
