Rain doesn’t stop me and my family to join the crowds at the Wellington’s biggest Chinese New Year celebrations over the weekend at the Frank Kitts Park.

As early as 11Am, we went to TSB Bank Arena, Queen Warf which jam-packed by more than 10,000 visitors for the Asia market which features authentic Chinese foods, traditional massage, crafts, merchandise, information stands among others.

My son got excited when he saw the Shaolin Kungu Performance Group of Songshan,China executed and performed their martial arts skills .

The Shaolin Kungfu Performance Group herald from the Songshan Shaolin Temple’s Wushu Training Centre. Their impressive reputation has led them to invitations to perform and teach in over 80 countries, covering Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific region.

Their performances reflect four themes; Shaolin Thirteen Cudgel Monks’, Combining Zen and Wushu into One’, Shaolin Soul’ and ‘Shaolin Powerful Wind’. If you want to see again the Shaolin monks, a ticketed performance is scheduled on Feb 16 at Michael Fowler Centre.
